Hubbard Feeds | Homestead Feeds
Focus on Feed Safety
Hubbard Feeds’ roots in the feed business go back almost a hundred years when it sold its first bag of Sunshine Feed. Known then as Hubbard Milling, the company began developing its reputation of quality products upon the principles of sound nutrition, concern for the animals and reliable ingredients. Today, Hubbard Feeds, the leading feed manufacturer in food safety, takes the next step in feed security with its Homestead Brand. This brand provides assurance for those producers and marketers who value traceability, safety and reliability.
Through years of testing and research, Hubbard has understood that great feeds can only come from great ingredients. Only ingredients from approved suppliers are purchased for use in our feeds and all ingredients are thoroughly checked before being allowed into our plants. We even insist that incoming trucks have been cleaned prior to hauling our ingredients and the hauler must verify the contents of the previous load to avoid contamination.
Once the ingredients have entered our plants, we formulate and manufacture your feed under rules of good manufacturing procedures and HACCP. Developed for NASA to guard the food safety of the astronauts, HACCP (Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Points) ensures we do everything possible to eliminate errors and verify that the critical points during the manufacturing process are checked and rechecked.
In 1997, as part of our commitment to food safety, Hubbard Feeds eliminated the use of all ruminant meat and bone meal and other restricted proteins from every plant.
Even though Hubbard has quietly grown from its humble beginnings in the Minnesota River Valley to one of the largest feed companies in North America, concern over quality has never waned. In fact, this growth and continued push for food safety drove Hubbard to become ISO 9001 certified in 2000, the first feed manufacturer in the United States to do so! This requires work on our part. ISO 9001 certification means we are audited by outside third-party inspectors and each plant must comply to retain our standing as an ISO 9001 Certified Company. Making sure that your feed can be made in the same safe way, in each of 21 plants, every day, is what we do.
In short, there are two things that come in every bag of Homestead Feed. Ideal feed from a staff of nutrition specialists dedicated to providing the right feeds for your animals and Peace of mind from our commitment to feed quality, integrity and reliability. |
